Taste The Mother Road!

Waylan’s Ku-Ku Burger is the last of a popular 1960s fast food chain that once had over 200 restaurants. Located in Miami (pronounced “my-AM-uh”) Oklahoma, this time capsule is located right on Route 66.

The Ku-Ku stands out immediately with its large neon sign, uniquely gabled roof, and a large “ku-ku” bird perched and ready to greet you. The inside of this burger joint hasn’t changed much over the years. 66 memorabilia, classic booth seating, and potted plants bring customers back in time to the heyday of fast food restaurants.

Another thing that hasn’t changed about the Ku-Ku is Eugene Waylan himself. Waylan has been flippin’ burgers since he bought the establishment back in 1973. With a focus on high quality food, affordable prices, and the local community, Waylan has created a Miami staple that has withstood the test of time.

So what’s on the menu? Waylan’s Ku-Ku Burger is famous for its giant cheeseburgers and Ku-Ku fries which are waffle fries smothered in cheese, chilli, and green onion. Wash down this classic meal with their homemade limeade with cherry – a local favorite. Other menu items include sandwiches, fried pickles, and even fried squash when it’s in season. The best part is that most of these menu items are around $5 or less.

Locals and travelers alike consider Waylan’s Ku-Ku Burger a must stop destination on the DBH. You can’t miss it as you cruise down the Mother Road – just look out for the vintage cars parked in the lot, a glowing neon sign, and of course … the “Ku-Ku” bird!
